This course introduces pharmacology by looking at the interaction of chemicals with receptors to elicit physiological responses. The course outlines the theory, application, and methods of receptor pharmacology as it is used to characterize drug activity. The history of receptor theory, methods to quantify affinity, the drug discovery process, and rudimentary application of statistics to determine difference will be discussed.
