International Solvay Chair in Chemistry

The International Solvay Institutes are proud to announce the launch in 2008 of the International Solvay Chair in Chemistry. The chair enables to invite each year in Brussels an eminent chemist for one to two months. The Solvay professor provides specialized teaching in the chemistry departments of the Université Libre de Bruxelles and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, as well as an inaugural lecture for a broader audience.

The first chemistry Solvay chair holder is Professor Richard James Saykally from the University of Berkeley. He will deliver his inaugural lecture “Water Music: The Latest Word on the Most Important Substance in the Universe” on April 22, 2008.
