Top Plymouth Hospital to improve cancer detection by investing almost £200,000 in cutting-edge imaging technology

Nuffield Health Plymouth Hospital has recently invested £197,000 in state-of-the-art equipment from PENTAX Medical to enhance its diagnostic capability and support early detection of suspicious growths which can be biopsied and enable earlier treatment which can improve patient outcomes. The hospital, one of 31 Nuffield Health hospitals, the largest UK health charity, will re-equip its department with 11 of the most advanced flexible endoscopes on the market: these are flexible cameras that are inserted into the stomach, digestive tract and bladder to help detect and diagnose problems.

PENTAX Medical has been providing cutting-edge endoscopy equipment for a number of years and is renowned for the quality, reliability, innovation and simplicity of its products. The investment in PENTAX’s, high-definition HD+ endoscopes by the Nuffield Health Group will ensure that its patients are provided with the best possible care.

PENTAX Medical has also designed a revolutionary ‘i-scan’ imaging technology that can also be used alongside the endoscopes to improve the images of the tissue lining the stomach, intestines and bladder. Getting a better image inside a patient leads to early  detection, diagnosis and treatment.

Many leading doctors already trust PENTAX’s endoscopes to improve the detection and diagnosis of tissue abnormalities1. According to David Moore, Managing Director, PENTAX UK Ltd. “By choosing the most technologically advanced endoscopy products on the market, the Nuffield Health Hospitals division will be able to offer its patients much faster diagnosis and treatment.”

David Houghton, Hospital Director at Nuffield Health Plymouth Hospital said, “With our recent acquisition, I am delighted to say we are now able to diagnose our patients using the most advanced technology.   We take pride in delivering an excellent service and being able to use the latest, cutting edge equipment means that we can deliver truly high class health care to our patients.”
