The Chemical industry today is facing challenges from rising oil, high energy prices and changing legislation. Chemical producers must look very carefully at their businesses and decide which sectors can be regarded as profitable core businesses and which ones need to be disposed of or restructured. Although numbers for M&A in 2005 were down, the outlook for 2006 is projected to increase in the number of deals made by both trade buyers and equity/venture groups. Also, increasingly, the shift of M&A activity is moving away from the US, with Europe and particularly Asia seeing an increased number of deals. With more companies looking to increase their profits and decrease their costs an increase in M&A deals are on the horizon. The Chemical industry must evaluate how to best implement a deal in the changing global environment and thus, move their companies and products forward. This conference is designed to provide the participants with the information and tools they need from industry experts to better navigate in the world of Chemical M&A. By exploring the current legislative issues, cultural, and regional issues facing companies, industry players will be equipped with the right tools to compete in the global chemical M&A market.
