SUMMARY:19th annual GFST Symposium on RNA in Motion
DTSTART:20100909T220000Z
DTEND:20100912T190000Z
DESCRIPTION:Molecular motion underlies all essential activities relati
ng to life. Yet we still know very little about this most important mo
lecular behavior. RNA molecules are among some of the most versatile a
nd mobile macromolecules. The role of molecular motion in function has
been studied in a variety of RNAs from very small aptamers and ribosw
itches to the much larger ribosome. This symposium will explore RNA mo
tions and their consequences for function in the ribosome\, viral RNAs
\, molecular motors and small molecules including riboswitches\, aptam
ers and ribozymes. In addition there will be a session on computationa
l approaches to predict RNA folding and simulate intramolecular moveme
nts. \nDuring this symposium on RNA in Motion\, some the world's leadi
ng experimental and computational scientists will convene at Iowa Stat
e University. The symposium venue is designed to promote informal disc
ussion and interaction\, and potentiate collaborations. It will provid
e an opportunity for students and new and established investigators to
gain a working knowledge of the current state of the field and the re
 searchers who are expanding it.
